The candidates move on to the third phase of the Hunter Exam, which takes place aboard an airship. This episode delves into the characters’ individual strengths, particularly Gon and Killua, as they face an unexpected test from the enigmatic Chairman Netero.

Key Plot Points:

    • The remaining candidates board an airship that will take them to the site of the third phase of the exam.
    • Gon and Killua enjoy the luxury of the airship, marveling at its size and comfort, but soon find themselves in a new challenge.
  2. Netero’s Challenge:
    • Chairman Netero invites Gon and Killua to a game, testing their physical and mental abilities.
    • The game involves trying to take a ball from Netero, who demonstrates his superior strength and agility, effortlessly evading their attempts.
  3. Character Insights:
    • The episode gives insight into Killua’s background, hinting at his deadly upbringing as an assassin.
    • Gon’s determination and resilience shine through, as he refuses to give up despite the overwhelming odds.

Quotes:

  • “This is just a game, but it’ll show me what you’re really made of.” – Netero

Themes and Motifs:

  • Persistence and Resilience: Gon’s refusal to give up, even against an opponent like Netero, embodies the theme of persistence.
  • Strength and Strategy: The episode highlights the balance of physical strength and strategic thinking required to be a Hunter.

Final Thoughts:

Episode 7 introduces a more playful yet intense aspect of the Hunter Exam through Netero’s challenge. The insights into Gon and Killua’s characters make this episode a fascinating look at what drives these young aspirants.

My Thoughts:

In the next episode Gon and Killua are actually offered the ability to fast track their way to a Hunter’s License courtesy of a once in a lifetime “game” presented by Netwro to the duo.

Simply grab the athletic ball he is holding onto by 8 AM the next morning (9 hours away) and they will be granted their licenses right then and there.

The two fight and fight and fight and man do I mean they went hard.  But to no avail Netero, the old geezer is quicker, sharper and completely OP.

Killua gives up , but young Gon sticks around for some lessons from the old man before heading off.  This also shows the differences between the two; Gon seems to be more thoughtful and calmer.  Killua is quick to anger and very brash in comparison.  The two ultimately are going to make an amazing team. Excited to see where this goes from here.
