Summary:

The candidates continue to navigate the treacherous Trick Tower, where they encounter a new set of challenges in the form of convicted criminals. The episode highlights the intense battles and strategic thinking required to outsmart these dangerous opponents.

Key Plot Points:

  1. The Prisoner’s Dilemma:
    • The group’s next challenge in Trick Tower pits them against a group of criminals who have been imprisoned for their crimes.
    • Each member of the group must face a prisoner in a one-on-one battle, with their freedom on the line.
  2. Battles of Wits:
    • Kurapika, Leorio, and Gon each take on their respective opponents, showcasing their unique strengths and strategies.
    • Kurapika faces off against Majitani, a seemingly tough opponent who turns out to be more bark than bite.
  3. Leorio’s Gamble:
    • Leorio finds himself in a high-stakes game of chance against Leroute, a cunning and manipulative opponent.
    • Despite initial setbacks, Leorio’s determination and willingness to take risks pay off, allowing the group to move forward.

Highlights:

  • Tactical Battles:
    • The episode focuses on battles that require not just physical strength, but also mental acuity and strategic thinking.
  • Character Focus:
    • Leorio and Kurapika each have moments to shine, revealing more about their personalities and approaches to challenges.

Quotes:

  • “Sometimes, all it takes to win is to see through the lies.” – Kurapika
  • “I may not be the strongest, but I’m not afraid to take a gamble!” – Leorio

Themes and Motifs:

  • Strategy and Deception: The battles emphasize the importance of strategy and the ability to see through deception.
  • Courage and Risk: Leorio’s willingness to take risks highlights the theme of courage in the face of uncertainty.

My Thoughts:

In the beginning of this episode Gonnis the second of the five to enter the fighters ring. And beleive it or not the fight is to not let one’s candle burn out fast.

Gon using his wit somehow miraculously wins this challenger even though his opponent cheated in multiple ways.

After Gon Kurapika faces one of the most ruthless criminals of the infamous Phantom Troupe, whom is significantly more powerful and even has implanted metal in his body to strengthen what already seems like an impenetrable wall of a man.  We see Kurapika eyes glow red with hate as the troupe may have been responsible for his people’s extermination.

For the win; next up is the great Leeorio!
