The second episode of Dan Da Dan picks up right where the series premiere left off, plunging deeper into the chaos and strangeness that defines this supernatural adventure. With both Ken and Momo now grappling with the reality of spirits and aliens, they realize that their lives are far from normal—and the bizarre events are just beginning.
Plot Summary
Following his abduction by aliens, Ken returns to Earth—only to discover that the experience has left him with some strange side effects. His body now harbors a mysterious power, one that he can’t fully control yet. At the same time, Momo is haunted by the spirit she encountered in the hospital. Determined to protect each other, the two realize they’ll need to figure out how to harness their newfound abilities before things spiral even further out of control.
As they experiment with their abilities, they are quickly thrown into another battle—this time against a vengeful spirit lurking near a local shrine. Momo’s spiritual powers begin to manifest fully, making her a force to be reckoned with, while Ken starts to grasp the strength granted by the aliens. The battle is intense, but thanks to their quick thinking and teamwork, the duo manages to overcome the threat.
Character Development
Episode 2 does an excellent job fleshing out both Ken and Momo. Ken’s insecurities about his usefulness in their strange new reality come to the surface, while Momo’s cool and determined nature provides an anchor for their friendship. Their partnership is slowly evolving from two classmates forced to work together into a real bond.
We also see the beginnings of Ken’s character arc—he’s not just comic relief but someone eager to grow stronger, protect Momo, and understand the strange new world they’ve stumbled into.
Themes and Tone
This episode continues the series’ blend of humor, supernatural thrills, and emotional depth. Ken’s struggle with his abilities offers a relatable theme of self-acceptance, while the growing friendship between him and Momo adds heart to the story. The episode also emphasizes the importance of trust and teamwork, laying the foundation for the dynamic duo’s future adventures.
Animation and Action
The fight scenes remain a highlight, with stunning animation and creative choreography. Momo’s spiritual abilities are visually spectacular, and Ken’s alien-enhanced strength adds a thrilling layer to their battles. The mix of sci-fi and supernatural elements keeps the show feeling fresh and unpredictable.
My Thoughts:
Our alien and ghost deniers have now come to the conclusion that in fact both ghosts and aliens exist and they are in the midst of dealing with it.
Ken discovered his ability to transform into a monster of sorts and realizes it’s one fit he few ways he can actually be useful and protect Momo.
Towards the end of the episode, the two use their wizardry / witch powers and Ken’s super strength to defeat a crazy huge sumo-like villain bent on nothing but destroying the two of them. Combined they were able to defeat it and get “things back to tomorrow”.
