Cowboy Bebop: Season 1, Episode 2 – “Stray Dog Strut”

Spread the love

In “Stray Dog Strut,” the Bebop crew’s next bounty hunt leads them to a rather unexpected target: a genetically engineered Welsh Corgi named Ein. This episode adds a layer of light-heartedness to the series while still maintaining its signature blend of action and humor.

The Plot Thickens

The story kicks off with Spike and Jet tracking Abdul Hakim, a notorious thief who has stolen a valuable data dog from a research facility. As they pursue Hakim, they quickly realize that their target is not the usual kind of bounty they’re used to. The introduction of Ein, the adorable and highly intelligent Corgi, brings a charming twist to the chase.

Character Dynamics

“Stray Dog Strut” provides more insight into Spike’s character, showcasing his agility and quick thinking. His interactions with Ein add a touch of humor and warmth, highlighting a softer side to the typically cool and composed bounty hunter. Jet, on the other hand, continues to play the role of the pragmatic partner, often exasperated by Spike’s unconventional methods.

Visual and Musical Highlights

The episode features vibrant, bustling cityscapes and fast-paced action sequences that are a visual treat. Yoko Kanno’s eclectic soundtrack once again enhances the experience, with tracks like “Bad Dog No Biscuits” perfectly capturing the episode’s playful yet intense tone.

Conclusion

“Stray Dog Strut” successfully balances action, comedy, and character development, making it a delightful follow-up to the series premiere. The introduction of Ein adds a new dynamic to the Bebop crew, promising more adventures and hijinks in future episodes.

My Thoughts:

Finally getting back to this classic anime has me excited. Since episode one I’ve digested around 75 other episodes so excited to kick back, relax and be rocketed away by Spike and crew!

Episode 2 here we go!

Enter Ein the cute little puppy!! Super excited the dog is finally here; I remember the dog from the UVS (Universus) Cowboy Bebop Card Game.

Back to Ein he is apparently an extremely rare dog with special abilities that has a huge bounty on his recovery and return.  Lucky for Spike our bounty hunter, Ein has taken a liking to him and now to cash in!!!…. Well hopefully. I guess we will see what other surprises and adventures Spike and Ein have in store in episode 3 and beyond.
