Introduction: Welcome to the chaotic and comedic world of The 100 Girlfriends Who Really, Really, Really, Really, Really Love You! In the first episode of this hilarious new anime, we dive straight into the absurdity that defines this series, setting the stage for a romantic adventure unlike any other. Brace yourselves as we meet our protagonist, Rentarou Aijou, a guy with the most ridiculous love life imaginable.

Episode Overview: The episode kicks off with a dramatic yet humorous introduction to Rentarou, who has been rejected by every girl he’s confessed to during his middle school years. After being turned down by his 100th crush, Rentarou, heartbroken and desperate, prays for a change of fortune at a local shrine. In a twist of fate, the God of Love appears before him, revealing that Rentarou is destined to meet 100 soulmates. But here’s the catch: if he fails to reciprocate their love, they will all suffer a tragic fate!

The absurdity of the situation becomes clear as Rentarou, now a high school student, immediately encounters his first two soulmates: Hakari Hanazono, a bubbly and affectionate girl, and Karane Inda, a fiery tsundere. Both girls fall head over heels for Rentarou, leading to a hilarious love triangle that forces him to juggle their affections. With the knowledge of their fate hanging over him, Rentarou is determined to make both girls happy, even if it means stretching his love to unprecedented levels.

Character Introductions:

  • Rentarou Aijou: Our hapless protagonist, Rentarou is a kind-hearted and determined young man who finds himself in the most ridiculous situation. Despite the overwhelming odds, he is committed to ensuring that every one of his soulmates feels loved.
  • Hakari Hanazono: Hakari is the first soulmate Rentarou meets. She’s cheerful, affectionate, and doesn’t hesitate to express her feelings. Her bubbly personality makes her an instant favorite, but she’s also fiercely loyal to Rentarou.
  • Karane Inda: The second soulmate Rentarou encounters, Karane is the quintessential tsundere. She tries to mask her true feelings with tough, abrasive behavior, but her softer side emerges as she realizes how much she cares for Rentarou.

Themes and Humor: The first episode sets the tone for the series by blending romance, comedy, and a bit of absurdity. The concept of having 100 soulmates is not just a gimmick but a source of endless comedic potential. The dynamic between Hakari, Karane, and Rentarou is both hilarious and endearing, with plenty of awkward situations and over-the-top reactions that will leave you laughing out loud.

Final Thoughts: Episode 1 of The 100 Girlfriends Who Really, Really, Really, Really, Really Love You is a promising start to what looks like an incredibly fun and light-hearted series. My Thoughts:

This is a have to watch series for me as the card game is a part of the larger Bandai Union Arena game that I sell and I’ve promised myself that I would at least know some of the character names.

Most animes involve numerous cliches, romance and girlfriends, but 100 seems excessive; excited to see where this is going.

The protagonist literally admits, thinking it’s out loud only to himself that he is constantly being rejected and prays for the chance to get a real girlfriend. To his surprise a mysterious voice and spirit appears and predicts that in high school he will meet the kindred spirit meant for him from birth, ie his soulmate.

He is shocked when the twist comes as he finds out that he will have 100 soulmates. The juxtaposition of going from being a loner with no female attention to being undeniable by every female he comes in contact with becomes burdensome in a hilarious manner.

Now he has the task of being in love with 100 women but can’t date any of them without consequences.
